Been There, Got The T-Shirt and The Hat

The Hip was a great concert last night. They hit all of the songs that you would suspect. I would not call it the best concert I was ever at, as Great Big Sea in Bathurst was more fun, but this was a solid number 2.

Friday night 2

-I'm still working my way through the Third season of the West Wing. I'm up to the 15th Episode (including Isaac and Ishmail). I hate to meantion it again, but this show is great. Funny and Smart. The new season is showing promise, with CJ replacing Leo as the Chief of Staff. When everyone including the president resigned on CJ's first day, I could almost feel her pain, then laughed with the rest of them.

-One of the best things that I've downloaded lately was the entire Top 100 of 2002 from Casey Kasem. I'm slowly working my way through it, and it's nice to hear the legend again. (It's also kind of cool hearing him say "Here's Murder Inc")

-Worked my way through Smackdown Vs Raw and I am very disappointed. Last year's Smackdown game (Here Comes the Pain) is so much better it's almost scary. The voiceovers sound like they were done in a bathroom. I beat the season in about 6 hours of playing time. The only thing that you do in the season mode is fighting for Diva's. Not worth a buy.

-Now downloading: The Rise and Fall of ECW. No matter what happens I'll be buying it, but I can't wait to see it

It's a sunday

-It was a fun night last night as I went to the Timberwolves game followed by a night of Trivia at Carrie's. The game was good with Miramichi winning 4-1. Afterwords, played a game of Scene it and then DVD trivia, which I won both. (was there ever any doubt :) ).

-Picked up a couple of books yesterday, Adam Copeland on Edge and To Be The Man: Ric Flair. I'm about 100 pages into the Flair book and it's very interesting. I've heard the Edge book is good, but I'll start it in a couple of days.

-I'm working my way through Def Jam: Fight for NY at about 70% of the storyline. I'm going to try to finish it before Smackdown Vs Raw arrives (Hopefully on monday)

-G4/Tech Tv has done it again by "Revamping" The Screen Savers, firing most of the staff with the exception of Kevin Rose and Sarah Lane. The show is going into repeats untill after the american thanksgiving then will return. I imagine when it does comeback it will have more of a gaming edge. "Unscrewed with Martin Sargent" has been totally cancelled, leaving X-play as the last remaining show from TechTV, leaving a lot of crappy gaming shows (and a good canadian girl, Amanda Mackay). I can be very honest that I very rarely turn on the channel anymore, as even the returning Call for Help has fallen off.

Procrastination is the art of keeping up with yesterday.

-Check out Willie's Page link for one of the best mini-rants I've ever read. As the words continues to wait for the return of the full fleged Pissing Vinegar.

-For those of you that don't speak Frenchy (otherwise known as Leblanc) from the tag board: You Miramichi people are very cool, by the way is that a quarter I see on the bar?

-Actual call that an agent got yesterday:

Agent: Now read me off that phone number please?
Caller: I can't
Agent: Why not?
Caller: The numbers are in French

Same agent, different call:

(overheard) Sir, It's that thing with all the letters and numbers on your desk (talking about a keyboard)

-You would be surprised by the number of people that tell me that they "Are not very computer-illiterate"

-So a couple of months ago, I ordered Smackdown Vs Raw from Amazon.ca. I then cancelled it because Futureshop was supposed to send it to me quicker. No go, still taking orders (Although it's in the stores) So I've gone back to amazon who is SUPPOSED to have it here by next wednesday or Friday (Holiday). Some of the reports I've read have some disappointed people, but these people seem to always be expecting the world then bitch when it does not come. I'll make up my own mind, if the game ever gets here.

-I've said it before but I'll do it again. The best show on television is The West Wing. The current season so far shows excellent writing that makes anything else on network television look like a 3rd graders language Arts homework. I've also got the 3rd Season on DVD and am slowly working my way through. We should make Martin Sheen the real president (As long as he keeps the same writers)

-Poker update: I've won two straight Hold em Tournaments, amounting to about 5500 in play credits. I'd still have most of them if I hadn't accidentally registered for a Omaha Hi/Lo table. WOW, what a confusing game.

Random Update #2

-America deserves everything it gets. That's all I'm going to say

-I really like this song

-Playing poker at a different place these days. Pokerstars.net is a download that allows you to play for free against real people. I've got nto a few turnaments and finished in the money once. It's the same place that the last 2 World Series of Poker Champions play online.

-Went to a halloween party at Gully's last saturday night. Dressed in my Hip Hop best. If you want to see pics you can go here, although I guess my "Da da da da" picture didn't make it.

-not really anything going on right now..other then the fact I REALLY want a Pepsi Ipod

Friday night

-Went to the OH tonight, it was the first time there since january and we had a great time. just a bunch of the guys. I had entirely too much booze ( I think that might have something to do with the 2 trays of shooters that we baught between the bunch of us) but I guess I'm playing poker later on today so that will be ok. The best part is, I didn't pay for most of it as I hit the machine at mikes waiting for the rest of them. Took about $90 out and spent most of it. It was great.

-Forgot about this; Dave, this is something we'll have to get back working on

Another Update

-Sorry for being so long between updates, but It's just been that quiet around here. I'm working nights so by the time I get home I don't want to be creative. I just want to veg. Espically the past few days, as it's been so busy. 80 calls in about 7 and a half hours is about what I'm averaging. and everyone wants to argue with me.

When you call tech support there are things you should do and things you should not under any cirmantences do

  • DO be in front of your computer with it powered on. Yes, you can be on the phone and have the computer on at the same time. It will not cause a tear in the time/space vortex that will send you and the PC to the land of purple monkeys.
  • DON'T ARGUE WITH THE TECH!!! You are calling me becouse you don't know what the problem is. I am trying to help you, and wish to do so.
  • DON'T LIE TO THE TECH!! This is a big one, even a little white lie will piss me off and you will find that if I am pissed off at you then thw less you will get. I will always do my job on a call, but it's the little extras that you will miss out on. If you really anger me, you will pay the stupid tax of going to see a tech.
People say "You can't be angry becouse people don't know" and there is some truth to that. I am not angry when people don't know, It's when people don't know and don't care to learn that gets my goat. I don't know about anyone else but when I spend a good deal of money on something, I learn how to work it; and by work it; I don't mean anything too technical; just knowing the difference between left and right click would be a treat.

-Went to the Timberwolves game last night; which they lost, but they played what I thought was a decent game. Who didn't have a decent game was the Official BJ Young. Missing Key calls including a hit from behind and a player drawing blood was bad enough; but the best one that I saw was the puck actually leaving the ice; hitting a kid on the top of the head and coming back to the ice, Truro picking it up and bring it back down the ice for a goal. There is no excuse for missing that type of call. These officials keep making these types of idiodic calls and then are brought back the next week. It's terrible, and one of these night is going to lead to something bad happening on the ice when one of this idiots calls leads it out of control.

- @.com is a blog that one of the guys from work has put together. It's a very Tech intensive blog, but if you want to learn, he always seems to have the most detailed articles on what's going on. First time I saw about the Halo 2 leak is on his Blog.

-I've kind of been getting back in to ER this year, after catching last season's season finale. I had to find out what happioned and now I find myself always downloading the next episode to keep up. We'll see if they can keep my interest.

-West Wing update: The new season starts this week, and a article on Canoe.com/jam states that it may last longer then the Bartlett Administration. That would mean an almost full change of the cast that most of the fans have grown to know, almost making a West Wing 2 kind of feel.

Another Year Older and Deeper In Debt

-Yes I know I misquoted the song.

-So as you can see from the new countdown clock; another birthday has passed making me 26. I didn't see things like this when I was 26, but you take what you can get. I spent the day in moncton with Mom and Jamie, who is home for a week or so. I spent way too much money buying some clothes. Finally picked up a new Vest, Although I don't think I'm going to retire the black one just yet. Picked up a really nice knit sweater and finally a sports jacket. Then we went to Chapters and I picked up a few books including "Broken Harts: The Life and death of Owen Hart" I finished this one already. It's an interesting read; The only thing that I can't get over is if Owen wanted out so bad, why hang around so long? Wrestling must be so hard, seems to be a lot to do just for the money.

I also picked up:

Of course the one book that I wanted to get while I was there was nowhere to be found. Maybe once the christmas season finishes up; I'll pick it up.

- Went into Old Navy Today too, I don't see what the big fuss is about. It seemed to be all over-priced stuff with stupid logo's on it. The funny part is I didn't see an simple Old Navy t-shirt anywhere.

-Anyone see the new Britney Spears Video: My prerogative, Bobby Brown must be rolling over in his grave..Just a second...Are you Sure?...Turns out Bobby Brown is not dead, just his career is. Speaking of which, I see that there is a new video from Bobby's former Group, New Edition as well. Bobby; Jump on the bandwagon and hit the road for the reunion tour.

-I just can't fand any decent music to download. That dosen't jive with the fact that I want a MP3 player. I was looking at Ipods and they are just too expensive. I've also heard that the batteries in them don't last past a year. I was looking at a Creative 40GB one at Compucorner, almost did it, but too much $$$. Hopefully the prices will drop in the hard drive based MP3 players after christmas...or I hit the lottery between now and then.

-I also saw the new G5 IMac's today. I really like the way it looks and the screen is beautiful. It will be interesting to see how long they last before burnout happens

-I've got a bunch of G-mail invites again. Just hit the E-mail link and I'll hook you up with one.

-Wow, all the computer and Gadget stuff...Have I become a Geek? I guess so....

-New Winamp Playlist

Vacation Update

-Yes I am on vacation and I love it, I'm not bored yet.

-It's amazing how much money you can spend without leaving the house. I got the Tickets for The Tragically Hip concert in Saint John; The hotel for the evening and then I decided to start my christmas shopping. Retirement Plan 649 can start anytime

-Wrestling fans NEED to find the Jim Cornette Shoot Interview; It's 4 1/2 hours long, but It's great and funny for all the stories that he tells.

*whuh...What a week

-OK, first things first. I've left the NAW. It's gone through a change of ownership and the momentium that we had fell off. I knew it was time to give it up after sitting in front of a blank WORD screen for 45 minutes. Nothing against the gang there, but it's time to put CD Lawrence to rest. Maybe he'll be reborn in another forum (Another one of those book projects I'm always thinking about)

-It been a busy week here in the Doyle Household. Last sunday, Mom threw a surprize birthday party for my grandmother, who today turns 80. Some of Gram's friends were here. She said it was the first birthday party she'd had. This was followed up by basically a week of celebrations, and people coming up to visit, along with a phone ringing off the hook with good wishes. Anyone who has Friday's Miramichi Weekend can see her pic in the paper, as we put in a birthday announcement.

-Also going on this weekend is the annual miramichi Dog show, which has mom and dad running around. I used to take part in this, but kind of fell out as the people that I knew did as well

-We took a trip to Moncton yesterday, so mom could pick up a dog from a friend of her's. Going down anyway, I decided to go into Future shop and pick up a couple of PS2 games. So I got NHL 2005 (with a bonus extra controller) and Def Jam: Fight for NY.

I really like NHL 2005, with the World Cup of Hockey feature. I've been playing that a lot. I also now know why they were giving the controller away. It's a little bigger then a regular one. It's going to take a little getting used to.

Def Jam is going to take a LOT of getting used to. I've had 15 fights and had my ass handed to me 15 times. But it's a great game. Can't wait to spend some time on it.

-Question: Future show has all these new TV screens for sale...Why do they still have the old green screens for the checkout's?

My new "Most annoying"

SF: Can I have the same as it was before

We've both already had the conversation that neither of us know what the password is, so how can I reset it to the same thing it is now?

I really should drink more

Random Update

-Yes...Carrie you are right. He would be a Whittiker, but half a Kenny :)

-Made my Preorder for WWE Smackdown! Vs RAW It's still over 2 months away, but I can't wait. Now I just need to clear enough room off the card for it.

-Bittorrent is great, I just wanted to say that. I've got WWF Superstars: The Past 10 years the past week. It was the last Syndicated WWF Superstars before the show was made into a clip show that eventually turned into The WWE Experience. Watching it (It's from 1996) I never realized now many of the people featured init we've lost. Mr. Perfect Curt Henning; Gorilla Monsoon; Brian Pillman; Davey Boy Smith; Yokozuna and Owen Hart, all passed on; most before their time.

-Song I like that I thought was going to be bigger then it was: Bachelor Girl: Buses and Trains

So much game My nickname should be ESPN

-There is a new Kenny in the world today. Dana and Dave had thier second child today, a boy, Tanner Joseph. Mom and Child are doing fine. I think I used this joke last time but Grandpa Joe already has the kid spoiled

-Willie, I hate it when people say they know something but can't say anything. That's really not right :)

-So I picked my new schedule today. There was NOTHING worth anything by the time I got to it, at least not what I wanted (early Morning with 2 days off in a Row) so I went with:

Saturday: Off
Sunday: Off
Monday: Noon to 8:30
Tuesday: 2:30 to 11pm
Wednesday: 3 to 11:30pm
Thursday: 2:30 to 11pm
Friday: 2:30pm to 11pm

The weekend off is nice with hockey season coming and just regular weekend things. It's just going to be a bitch getting turned around to that time of day.

-People that are landing here from the NavBar, if you don't mind, leave a note on the tagboard. I like seeing what people have to say. I looked at that NWA link that was left. I wish that there was a local wrestling company like that here in New Brunswick. Maybe soon...

Do you play Hockey?

Just back from my second live hockey game of the season as the Timberwolves are back in full swing with thier exhibition season. After tonights win, defeating the Campbellton Tigers 8-7, that puts them at 2 wins, one loss. It's a good basic team. I'd like to see a better goaltender and a couple more big defencemen.

I did see my first one punch knockout. Tyler Veary went to take on one of the Tigers and got tagged with an unprotected straight out shot to the chin that put him out cold before he hit the ice. Lance Woodmen stepped up his game with a pair of goals and a pair of Beauty fights. I like Marlin Joseph as a tough little player, who will drop gloves when necessary, and those that don't know that he's a southpaw, look out.

What is your life Rated?

My life is rated R.
What is your life rated?

Listening to Primetime

- I was not one of these people who thought that Canada did a horrible job at the Olympics. 12 medals for this country is good, espically for the Summer Olympics. I have no problem with the amount of money that we give Amatuer Athletes. If they want more, lets do something like having a "top-up" at some of the great corporate citizens, like if you go to Sobey's and the bill comes to 21.59, let's bump it up to 22.00 and give the overage to the athletes.

-I bought the Sons of Maxwell's new album "Sunday Morning". It's what you would expect from the boys, which is good but not great. It will get a spot in my stereo for a while.

-Who will get a contract first? Aliant or The NHL? Leave your thought on the tag board.

- The Halloween party is apparently in the planning stages. Now when it comes to the costume I will wear; I have no idea.

-I am just about a month away from Vacation...I go from October 2 to October 8 (Go shorty, It's my birthday) but with some creative scheduling, I don't have to go back untill the 12. I know that Dave is going to be in the province for some of that time, so I'm hoping to make it down to moncton to see him. Maybe go to F-city to hang around with the kid brother, we'll see.

-Speaking about F-city, it along with Saint John is going to get a visit from the boys of Great Big Sea. I'm a little disapointed that Northren New Brunswick is not getting a show, but that may be another reason to hold off and go down for the show.

-Speaking of GBS, Saw the new Video for "Shines Right Through Me", Who are the extra two guys and why is Sean Mccann wearing a cowboy hat? I know the drummer (Kris Macfarlane) was on tour with Crush, so have they added someone new or was it just a guy to fill in a spot in the video.

-I'm writing this post using Mozilla Spacephoenix, thanks to a plug-in in Firefox. The plug in renames the browser everytime that you open a new window. Totally useless, but fun. I don't think that I've done a full review of Firefox yet, and I won't tonight, but everyone should at least give it a try. IE does a good job with Service Pack 2, as I have not recieved a pop-up in the few times that I use IE since the install.

-Leo Laporte is back on the air on Tech TV Canada. It's a great show for the computer novices amongst us. Check your local listings on your digital provider. If you don't have digital television. the shownotes are available here

-As I was sitting here, CIBC called and wanted to know if I was happy with my service. I am, and the one on the line told me that I could pay less interest if I change cards. HBC rewards are not enough to make me want to pay 9% more interest.

-Then I am calling Bell to have the movie networks removed from my Bell Expressvu. Since I have had them, I haven't watched more then 3 whole shows, "What a girl Wants", "Chris Rock- Never Scared" and "Lewis Black- Black on Broadway". It's just not worth it.

-The NAW are back on the block this week with the first Saturday Night Rampage. CD is back in the main event, this time teaming back up with Gregory Maines to take on Damien and Theron in a Steel cage match. If any of the old gang from RAW or the ICWF come by here, drop me a line. We are looking for people to join up

If I was a Harry Potter character I'd be a ...

a Gryffindor!

What I go through Everyday

I think this is as close as I can get to explaining what goes on with me at work when talking to the public:

In the essence of "Who's on first?"

ABBOTT (behind the counter at: Super Duper computer store): Can I help you? COSTELLO: Thanks. I'm setting up an office in my den, and I'm thinking about buying a computer.

ABBOTT: Mac?

COSTELLO: No, the name's Lou.

ABBOTT: Your computer?

COSTELLO: I don't own a computer. I want to buy one.

ABBOTT: Mac?

COSTELLO: I told you, my name's Lou.

ABBOTT: What about Windows?

COSTELLO: Why? Will it get stuffy in here?

ABBOTT: Do you want a computer with Windows?

COSTELLO: I don't know. What will I see when I look in the windows?

ABBOTT: Wallpaper.

COSTELLO: Never mind the windows. I need a computer and software.

ABBOTT: Software for Windows?

COSTELLO: No. On the computer! I need something I can use to write proposals, track expenses and run my business. What have you got?

ABBOTT: Office.

COSTELLO: Yeah, for my office. Can you recommend anything?

ABBOTT: I just did.

COSTELLO: You just did what?

ABBOTT: Recommend something.

COSTELLO: You recommended something?

ABBOTT: Yes.

COSTELLO: For my office?

ABBOTT: Yes.

COSTELLO: OK, what did you recommend for my office?

ABBOTT: Office.

COSTELLO: Yes, for my office!

ABBOTT: I recommend Office with Windows.

COSTELLO: I already have an office and it has windows! OK, lets just say, I'm sitting at my computer and I want to type a proposal. What do I need?

ABBOTT: Word.

COSTELLO: What word?

ABBOTT: Word in Office.

COSTELLO: The only word in office is office.

ABBOTT: The Word in Office for Windows.

COSTELLO: Which word in office for windows?

ABBOTT: The Word you get when you click the blue "W."

COSTELLO: I'm going to click your blue "W" if you don't start with some straight answers. OK, forget that. Can I watch movies on the Internet?

ABBOTT: Yes, you want Real One.

COSTELLO: Maybe a real one, maybe a cartoon. What I watch is none of your business. Just tell me what I need!

ABBOTT: Real One.

COSTELLO: If its a long movie I also want to see reel 2, 3 & 4. Can I watch them? ABBOTT: Of course.

COSTELLO: Great, with what?

ABBOTT: Real One. COSTELLO; OK, I'm at my computer and I want to watch a movie. What do I do?

ABBOTT: You click the blue "1."

COSTELLO: I click the blue one what?

ABBOTT: The blue "1."

COSTELLO: Is that different from the blue "W"?

ABBOTT: The blue "1" is Real One and the blue "W" is Word.

COSTELLO: What word?

ABBOTT: The Word in Office for Windows.

COSTELLO: But there's three words in "office for windows!"

ABBOTT: No, just one. But it's the most popular Word in the world.

COSTELLO: It is?

ABBOTT: Yes, but to be fair, there aren't many other Words left. It pretty much wiped out all the other Words out there.

COSTELLO: And that word is real one?

ABBOTT: Real One has nothing to do with Word. Real One isn't even part of Office. COSTELLO: Stop! Don't start that again. What about financial bookkeeping, you have anything I can track my money with?

ABBOTT: Money.

COSTELLO: That's right. What do you have?

ABBOTT: Money.

COSTELLO: I need money to track my money?

ABBOTT: It comes bundled with your computer.

COSTELLO: What's bundled to my computer?

ABBOTT: Money.

COSTELLO: Money comes with my computer?

ABBOTT: Yes. No extra charge.

COSTELLO: I get a bundle of money with my computer? How much?

ABBOTT: One copy.

COSTELLO: Isn't it illegal to copy money?

ABBOTT: Microsoft gave us a license to copy Money.

COSTELLO: They can give you a license to copy money?

ABBOTT: Why not? THEY OWN IT!

COSTELLO: How do I turn my computer off?? ABBOTT: Click on "START".........

Just a few things

-I like the new navbar at the top of the page. I've been checking out a few other blogs from the "Next Blog" window

-I talked to Jimmy Rankin at work yesterday. He was having problems with his e-mail. He sounds like he's a pretty good guy

-I don't know what it is but I have been getting the "611" calls at work more. People, is it that hard to dial 6 then 1 and then 1.

-Played poker saturday night...didn't win..at all

Vegas

One of the Boards I go to all the time is the Thread APA~. ONe of the guys just got back from Vegas. This is his story.

Just a couple of things

-Had a good time saturday night at Gully's, had to slow down just a touch near the end of the night; but a couple of Ben's Sliders (burgers) made everything better

-This is the the reason I can't wait for the next PS2 WWE game; RAW vs Smackdown!

-The NAW is taking a couple of weeks off. I thought I came out strong this past week at No Guts No Glory; but I guess just not strong enough. It will be interesting to see what will happen when the hiatis ends; as Gregory Maines has joined CD Lawrence as what seems to be the only Faces in the whole company.

The Mother of all Updates

-So I went to the poker tournament last week in Chatham head. I wasn't the first man out, so I consider it a win. Although I didn't win anything., it was an experience

-A couple of new links, including the link to Trillion and the site that I kill a lot of time with at work, Tech Comedy

-So I have to start paying my student loan, Not that big a deal, I knew this day is coming. They were supposed to take the money on the 1st. Tonight, the money is still sitting in the account. To top it off, I get a phone call from the national bank, wondering where my payment is. In my very sarcastic voice. "It's still in my bank account, waiting for you to take it".

-I think I am to the point of disliking stupid people. I'm beginning to use my LART ( (l)user attitude re-adjustment tool) even more often then usual. Actual call today (My part in red):

"Yeah I was supposed to call 611"
"OK, you called 611 and they tranfered you to me" (Stupid, but not out of the ordinary)
"No, I didn't know how to dial 611, so I called you. How do I dial 611?"
(My head meets the desk at a slowly increasing speed)"You dial 6-1 and then 1"
"Oh Ok thanks" (disconnects call)

One of my co workers says "I love it when you get sarcastic without getting sarcastic"

-I'm beginning to thinh the official language of my workplace is "answering questions correctly and honestly, but the answer having nothing to do with the question asked"

-Who will have a contract first, the NHL or Aliant?

-Looks like there is a spot opening on my Fav. radio station...Oh you thought I meant the Sludge? No, fool, The Fan 590 out of Toronto, as some major changes are coming down. it’s looking like Gord Stellick will move to the mornings to partner with Don Landry. Chuck Swirsky could be the afternoon replacement for Stellick. In the drive-home slot, 590 has finally canned Damien Cox. McCown will likely have rotating guest hosts instead of a regular partner.

-Looking forward to the parties at Carrie's on Saturday night, I might even have a beer or two :)

It's not really like this... Honest

There is an update coming..soon but before I do:
There's always this

LAUNCH: Music on Yahoo!

Well, Rogers has "merged" with Yahoo, to provide e-mail, among other things. One of those other things is Launch, which allows you to have your own Radio station. Mine is Here
I'll also place a link on it in my links list. If you're looking for something to listen to, here you go.

Monday Meanderings

-I think that's how you spell it.

-I never want my schedule to end. This Sunday/Monday off is great, the only thing I miss is anything that is going on Friday night, and really how much is going on Friday night that can't happen on Saturday?

-Speaking of Saturday night, Jess was home and babysitting so went down to the house and played a couple games of trivia. Jess and I defeated the considerable talents of John K and Tara. I think we were graceful in victory.

-I very much dislike it when people erase phone numbers from the call display and not tell anyone that they did it.

-After a year, a rebirth has happened. CD Lawrence has come out of retirement. It seems that most of the old NWF crew has got together in New Age Wrestling. So after thinking about it for a bit and being asked by both Willie (well, he tried but sent it to the wrong address) and Blackwing; I'm back. My first match is this week in a five way dance for the Vacant Television Title. We'll see what goes on with that this week.

-I did something I said I'd never do today. I legally downloaded songs for Puretracks. A really good album from Melissa McClelland called Stranded in Suburbia and the new album from a long time fav Sarah Harmer. My only complaint with puretracks is the fact that I had to use Windows Media Player to burn the CD's, but other then that it seems to be ok. Not bad prices either, about $20 for 2 CD's. Downloads were quick too. I can see me using this for Canadian artists that are hard to find anywhere else

The Bottom line on The Great American Bash

WWE: The Great American Bash

Great American Bash

--Let's hope that the superb video package isn't the best part of the show. I like the wrestlers with the lasers behind them. Especially the Undertaker

--Torrie Wilson comes out in Timewaster number one, as the
Diva's are the "Hosts" of the show

--United States Title. It's fatal 4-way style between John Cena, RVD, Booker T and Rene Dupree. Cena starts us off making the obvious Navy Seamen joke at Dupree's expense along with a very "blunt" statement to RVD. Basic 2 guys in the ring at the time until RVD hits both Dupree and Booker with ***** frog splash, but Cena rolls up RVD to eliminate him first. Booker and Dupree work on Cena until Cena Pumps it up and hits Dupree with the FU. Booker takes advantage, hitting Cena with the scissors kick, then taking out Rene with a pinfall. Booker hits the Chinlock after 2 unsuccessful pin attempts. Cole has already made 2 WCW references as it relates to the GAB and were not 15 minutes in. Side slam by Cena, leads into the 5 knuckle shuffle, then another Pump but Cena gets interrupted in midpump, don't you hate it when that happens. Booker misses the axkick in to the FU and that's all she wrote

Winner: John Cena (Still US Champion)

-During the replay, Cole calls Cena a veteran. Tazz gets a chance to verbally bitchslap him before I get to. WCW reference count up to 4.

-Backstage, Cena gets congrats from Charlie Hass and hits on Miss
Jackie. Hass started hitting on her too, but gets interrupted in his mack on by professor Angle, as Angle wonders why Charlie has fallen so far. Let's see, Miss Jackie or Kurt Angle...I'd say Ol Charlie is trading up. This leads to a match being made between Charlie Hass and Luther Reigns, Next. Damn, it's a good thing Charlie has his wrestling gear on and is right beside the entrance.

-Timewaster number 2: Sable interviewing herself about her match
against Torrie tonight. I don't know if there's going to be another
American Pie movie, but if there is I know who can play Stiffler's aunt. For god sakes, get her out of the water, she's starting to wrinkle.

-Charlie Hass Vs Luther Reigns. Reigns is accompitied by Mr.
Angle, who gave him a slap on the way in the ring. If Luther was smart, he fall down and piss himself, he could own half of Smackdown, but then again for 75cents and a decent lawyer, I could own smackdown. Power match as Luther shows his methodical (ie: slow) pace. Luther shows he's better then
Tyson Tomko on RAW by not falling on his ass when he delivers
a kick to Hass's chest. Messed up Irish whip sends Hass outside the
ring. Back in the ring, we hit the chinlock. Luther hits a nice Gorilla
press slam. For a power wrestler, Luther is not bad. Cross half Boston crab by Luther, leads into a pin sequence by Hass who nearly gets his head taken off by a clothesline. Hass gets a nice
T-bone suplex into an Oklahoma roll for 2. German suplex into
another 2. Hass hits the post, leading into the 'Roll the Dice"
neckbreaker for the 3

Winner: Luther Reigns

--Notice Kurt's wheelchair, the part he sits in is American Red, White and Blue, but the back is Blue, white and Red, so maybe Kurt will be the next French sympathizer. Then again, Maybe not.

-JBL talks about tonight's bullrope match and says the same thing
he's been saying for the past few weeks. Some people around the
world might agree that he is a real American and not as a
complement.

-WWE Cruiserweight Championship, Chavo Gurerro vs Rey Mysterio. WCW reference number 5, as they talk about Chavo's experience in Great American Bashs. and then follows it up with number 6, talking about Rey's matches at previous Bashs. They jaw at each other in the middle of the ring, as Rey gets the Bandito pin sequence for 2 and chavo hits the ropes. Another waistlock in to a floatover and roll threw for another 2. Nice chain wrestling to start. Chavo hits the arm bar early, in to Cruserweight moves #3 with the addition of a kick by Rey, into a armdrag and armbar. Leapfrog by chavo who hits the mat as Rey dives through into a springboard moonsault armdrag and a cover for two. Both guys working in the arm as they work WWE cruiserweight style. Chavo gets a springboard dropkick with Rey on the top rope, causing Rey to catch his knee on the ring on his way down. Chavo throws him back to the ring and starts the cross legbreaker and jumping on the joint from the bottom rope. Chavo goes over the top rope from a kick.
Chavo does take advantage with a kneelock around the post. Both
guys on their feet in the ring, allowing chavo to get a atomic
kneebreaker then a half-liontamer. Rey gets out with a few kicks to the head into a Bulldog (called a DDT by Cole). Mysterio's Knee buckles as he gets sent into the corner. Nice suplex from outside in by Chavo. Nice kick by Chavo sends Rey around for a 180, then does it again. Chavo hits into a Stretch Muffler, that Rey turns into a armdrag. Chavo uses the ropes for some more knee work, but gets a kick to the face for his trouble, as he also gets hit with a hurracarana. Rey gets hung up to dry on the Tree of Woe (/Kevin Sullivan). Rey manages to pull himself up to allow Chavo to hit the post with the Arm that Rey worked on earlier. Rey takes Chavo out with a senton to the floor from the top rope. Both men, after some recovery, head to the top rope, with both men hitting a facebuster. Chavo gets an arrogant cover, but gets rolled up for two. Slingshot to the middle rope for Rey, who hits a dropkick. Crossbody block into a side Russian legsweep that chavo kicks out of at 2. Rey goes over the top and manages to get a seated senton for another 2. Lefts and rights by Rey stopped with a rake to the eyes. Attempted huraconrana by Rey into a Gorybomb for 2. Inseguri sets Chavo up for the 619 and a blocked West Coast pop into a single leg crab by Chavo. Rey almost gets to the ropes but gets pulled to the middle of the ring. Chavo sits down on it, but Rey gets to the ropes, but the damage may have been done. Attempted Gorybomb by Chavo into a snap piledriver gets the 3 for
Rey. Match of the night.

Winner: Rey Mysterio (still WWE Crusierweight Champion)

-Timewaster 3. Torrie Wilson in a hottub with Spike, Funaki and
Kidman. Kidman is a lucky bastard. Funaki saying "God Bless America" is Classic

-The Bronze Warrior Kenzo Suzuki Vs Billy Gunn. How the hell did Billy Freakin Gunn get a match on a PPV? Cole starts the verbal Bj on Gunn by talking about the 10 time tag team champion, Tazz puts him in his place by saying it's a singles match so tag team means nothing. Collar/Elbow tie-up as Gunn teases a crotch chop. He wishes he was still that over. Gunn gets the first 2 count with a
fisherman's buster in a sequence that leads to another 2 count after the neckbreaker. Nice Jujitzu throw by Kenzo, leading to a nerve hold. Hey , Kenzo, Yokozuna used those for a reason 10 years ago, HE WAS 600 POUNDS!!. A Kenzo Flop with a chop to the throat back into the nerve hold. Kenzo really likes those chops, but he needs to realize that all the scary facial expressions won't help him. Tongan Death Grip~~~, maybe it's the return of THE MONSTER MENG, or not. Enough with the nerve hold, as Gunn fights out of it to go on the offensive, and it's very
offensive .Gunn misses the Fameasser in to the a Kenzo
Shining Wizard that missed by a mile gets 2. Kenzo runs into a spin slam. Gunn calls for another Fameasser, but Kenzo heads to the
corner and hits Gunn with a low slap that leads into one of the worst reverse neckbreakers I've ever seen that gets the win

Winner: Kenzo Suzuki

-BTW, The neckbreaker was so bad they didn't even show a replay
of it.

-Backstage, we see Paul Heymen with a tied up Paul Bearer. For a
guy that's been kidnapped for a few weeks, Paul sure has a nice
starched white shirt and perfect hair. Could they not even
loosend his tie. Heymen keeps talking about Undertaker doing the
right thing. The "right thing" would have been to no-show and cancel this poor excuse of a story line. Heymen says that he may not do the right thing, even if Undertaker does.

-Sable Vs Torrie Wilson: WCW reference: 7 ,comparing
Torrie/Sable to Dean maleness and arm Anderson matches. If you've
ever seen one of their matches, you've seen this one too. Kudos to
Michael Cole for bringing up "The Tasmaniac". Sable hits a "Perfect"
neckbreaker and that's about the only thing resembling wrestling
we've seen so far. Nice forearm by Sable, that leads to a criss-cross choke. Tazz has given up on the show, asking who has the blondest hair, Sable, Torrie or Charles Robinson. I'd say Charles. Both "wrestlers" hit, ahem, "heads" or more in reality, they hit silicone. Sable is playing possum, rolls up Torrie, who's shoulders never touch the mat ,and gets the three.

Winner: Sable

-BTW,second match of the night with no Replay of the finish

-Backstage, They show The Undertaker, then a shot of the "Titan" cement truck. It must of been a mistake as no one on Smackdown is that clever. (For those that don't know, WWE's former corporate name was Titan Sports)

-Back to the hot tub, As Dawn Marie is interviewing Rene Dupree, about the fatal four way. Rene hits on Dawn Marie. The FBI make a PPV appearance, with a Foot size joke, as Nunzio manages to pick up Dawn Marie. Maybe he has some of her ECW money.

-Mordecai vs Hardcore Holly: This should be a stiff match as Hardcore is taking on one more of them damn rookies that haven't paid their dues (/Holly) mmmm, Bob, not everyone has to be Sparky Plugg. Funny side line, At the Hall of Fame ceremony, Pete Rose talks about only two sports that takes care of it's fans, WWE and Nascar. Guess who's on the screen right after the mention of Nascar? Mr. STP himself, Hardcore Holly. Mordecai starts with a pieface, that just angers Hardcore leading into Holly tieing Mordacai in to the ropes. Irish whips sees Mordaci hit the floor,
Holly follows, just to get thrown in to Mordacai's symbol. A lot of
punches and kicks by both men, with Mordacai getting the better
part of it. Kick to the side of Holly's head leads to two. After the kickout, Mordecai hits the chinlock. Holly reverses a whip in to a hotshot, causing a unique double head butt spot. Holly gets a pair of stiff clotheslines then a flying elbow from the top rope for two. Inverted DDT gets another 2 for Holly. Sitout spinebuster reversal gets 2 for Moradacai. These two are bouncing the momentum around. Alabama slam attempt leads into the splash mountain bomb for the three.

Winner: Mordecai

-This ends what Dave Meltzer calls the three worst back-to-back-to-back matches in PPV history. That last match was also Mordecai's last win as he was squashed by Rey Mysterio the next week on Smackdown and the character was killed off, sending Kevin Fertig back to OVW for seasoning. More on that in the future.

-An ad for Summerslam airs..umm..Isn't Vengenance next?

-History package for the JBL-Eddy Gurerrero Texas bull rope match.

-WWE Championship Match: JBL Vs. Eddy Gurerreo: Texas Bullrope
Match: JBL gets absolutely no reaction, while Eddy gets a great
pop when he comes out. Each post has a light on it to show the corner has already been touched, as the match goes when all four corners have been touched in succession. Eddy gets a low dropkick to start, followed by a veil with the rope out of the corner. It's a rope choke. JBL gets the upperhand with a lowblow follow by some clubbering in the corner. JBl hits the first two corners but get stopped with another dropkick. Eddy takes over with a
backdrop and starts heading to the corners and gets two before JBL hits a clothesline and elbowdrop. Cowbell and rope whip to the back. Hangman's choke by JBL followed
by a shot to the forehead with the cowbell. Eddy gets hung up in the corner with the rope around his neck as JBL goes to the outside and pulls back. JBL heads to the Spanish announce table and pulls Eddy out to ringside and the English table. Eddy counters a powerbomb on the table with the rope around JBL's leg, taking over with some mounted punches and cowbells off JBL' s head. JBL off the post. Eddy roll in to the ring and out the other side, pulling JBL in to the post shoulder first. JBL pulls Eddy over and throws him into Michael Cole's lap. As JBl goes to get him, Eddy gets a chair and busts JBL open. Back in to the ring, Eddy gets another chairshot, hitting 3 posts, coming within less then a
foot of winning. Nick Patrick waves off the lights so Eddy starts again, getting 3 before JBL gets tied up in the ropes. Patrick waves off the lights, as the two wrestlers trade blows, JBL nailing Eddy with a kick to the face, leading into a DDT, getting 2 corners before eddy gets a lowblow and 3 corners before JBL whips him down. Eddy goes for the hattrick suplexes, nailing all three, Eddy goes to the top and hits the frog splash, getting 3 corners
before JBL rolls to the floor, causing Patrick to waive off the
lights. JBL to the stairs, as Eddy then tries to pull the larger JBL over the top rope. Bradshaw comes to the apron of the ring, then nails Eddy with the cowbell, with Eddy straddling the ropes. JBL veils Eddy off the ropes by the bullrope right to the Spanish announce table, that for some reason, does not break. The crowd now getting into it with a "Eddy" chant. JBL finally breaks the table with a powerbomb. JBL picks up Eddy and throws him back into the ring, heading for the corners. Tazz says that any part of the body can hit the corner for it to count, really? That's weird. JBL gets three corners before Eddy stops him. A JBL cowbell shot gets 3 but Eddy pulls him back and gets another lowblow to stop the momentum. Eddy starts whipping JBL with the bullrope with a choke. Eddy hits the corner, but JBL hits behind him, as he does on the next corner. JBL hits a clothesline, knocking them both in to the next corner for a 3-3 score. Eddy jumps over JBL hitting the corner, but JBL hits the corner as well with his back. Eddy starts celebrating, but here comes Kurt Angle, showing the finish, showing JBL hit the 4th corner. Kurt announces JBL as the NEW WWE Champion.

Winner and new WWE Champion: JBL

-Eddy gets a standing ovation as he leaves the ring. I think we can
thank CNBC for that title change, as JBL took one for the company,
getting canned by CNBC. Let's just hope Eddy gets it back at
Summerslam.

-Ad for Fanatix series:Diva's in the south pacific.

-History package for the Concrete Crypt Match, originally called the
Do or Die match. They changed the name, because WWE doesn't do murder.

-Concrete Crypt Match: The Dudleys vs The Undertaker: The
Dudley's accompied by Paul Heymen, who stops at the crypt to
control the lever. Funny,l they never seem to show the crypt when the Undertaker comes out. turns out, whenever they show Paul Bearer, it was a pretape from the afternoon that leaked on to the internet. They couldn't show Paul Bearer when Undertaker came out because the lighting wouldn't match. Heymen starts to fill the Crypt before the match starts. going to Bearer's shins. Bubba wants 'Taker to lay down for the three. D-von leaves the ring and Bubba starts talking smack, and gets caught with a choke, D-von comes in and they both get caught, but while 'Taker gets distracted by Heymen, take over with some bodyblows, but
drop their heads too early on a back body drop attempt, leading to
Bubba getting kicked in the chest and D-von getting sent outside the ring, Bubba right behind him. Bubba goes to the table ,as D-von
goes to the post in a hammerlock. D-von goes back into the ring,
and Undertaker goes to the top rope for old school, as Heymen
pulls the lever taking the concrete to the bottom of Bearer's chest.
The Dudley's take over on 'taker, who plants Bubba with a DDT.
D-von comes in and gets a sidewalk slam for his troubles. Undertaker starts going to the back but gets attacked by The Dudley's. Heymen pulls the lever, sending the cement to Bearer's shoulders. D-von takes over in the ring with a chin lock on taker, who comes back with some body punches, but gets caught with a flying elbow. D-von makes the tag to Bubba who drops a series of elbows for the first 2 count of the match. The Dudley's now tagging on a regular basis, with some doubleteaming. Bubba nails 'Taker with a part of the announce table, throwing him back into the ring for a D-von two count. Bubba comes back into the ring, with punches to the head, but 'taker starts throwing punches
back, going one for one till D-von comes on, but Bubba gets a
sleeper, that's countered into a back suplex. Bubba makes a tag,
but D-von gets hit with snake-eyes and a boot to the face. Right hand into a legdrop by 'taker on d-von. Bubba gets met on the way in with a punch, as Undertaker hits them both with splashes in the corner. Arm ringer on Bubba leads in to a second attempt for Old School, that connects. Tombstone attempt into a low blow. Reverse neckbreaker on 'taker, no followup. Undertaker gets the zombie sit up. Chokeslam on Bubba. Tombstone on D-von for 3

Winner: Undertaker

-Heymen heads towards the cement mixer but one of those
indoor lighting bolts stops him. Undertaker goes towards the crypt
and bows to Paul Bearer. But Taker is staring at the lever, as Taker walks towards it, and pulls it as the cement goes over Paul Bearer's head. That's never shown. as a long shot takes The Great
American Bash off the air.

-Paul Bearer's death has been upgraded to severe internal injuries from the weight of the concrete, including damage to his lungs and trachea due to inhalation of the toxic material. So while they don't do murder, apparently attempted murder is fine.

From the Ice glass:

-It's really frickin warm out today, getting up to about 35C. We've been waiting a long time for this. Hope you got out to enjoy some of it.

-I think he needs a new mouse

-I again found out why I only play sports games on the PS2. I picked up Soul Caliber 2 for a few days at blockbuster. I put it on for a few minutes and became totally frustrated until I shut it down. I put in Hot Shots Golf and beat another course, so now I feel better.

-I also picked up Showdown: Legends of Wrestling. It's the third in the series and not much better then the first one, a game that almost made me swear off PS2 for a year or so. The controls are jerky and hard to use, the audio has a tendeacy to skip and the hit detection is totally off. The only good thing is the amount of legends that have made it. From The Original Sheik to Eddy Gurerreo, Randy Savage and The Road Warriors. Too bad the WWE wouldn't do a legends game.

-I have The Great American Bash downloaded, I'll be watching it tonight and tomorrow. Reaction afterwards.

-I watched Fahrenheit 9-11 over the past couple of days, and while I don't know how much you can take to heart, with Michael Moore's history of "Creative editing", but it is a very interesting movie, and worth watching, even if you wait till the DVD.

-I got a call from Bell express-vu offering me the Movie channels for $5 a month for 4 months. I thought I'd give it a try. Haven't noticed much yet, but I am looking forward to checking out Six Feet Under and the comedy specials.

Hall Of Fame

-recieved the WWE Hall Of Fame DVD from Amazon today. This is a must pick up for the long time fans among us, but if for no other reason then Bobby Heenan's acceptence speech. I laughed so hard, I cried and my stomach hurt. The extra's look interesting as well, but I haven't had a chance to look through them yet. also picked up "No Way Out" and "Backlash". I was looking at my collection and including VHS, DVD and VCD, I have every PPV the WWF/WWE has produced (events) since Royal Rumble 1998.

-One of the surprises that I have picked up in my downloads was Big and Rich's album, Horse of a different Color. I'll admit that I only downloaded it to bring up my ratio on torrentbits.org. This is not a novelty act. Recommended songs are:
1. Six foot town
2. Deadwood Mountain
3. Holy Water

-Work is going well, other then the fact that it is still super dead. I ended up keeping my shift of 6am to 12:30pm with sunday and monday's off.

-Despite saying that I woulden't do it, I ended up going to see Nazereth, for awhile anyway. See, what had happioned was Jess was home and we were looking for something to do, and the concert came up. Crush was great, and apparently went to Mike's and played the rest of the night. We stuck around till midnight listening to what sounded like the same song over and over from Nazereth. Good thing Crush was worth the price of the ticket.

Like Harry Potter, Dude

If it ever really happined, It would be the funniest thing ever...the sad part is I could see it on the WB:

From Here:

WB Launching Americanized Harry Potter Series In Fall 2004

The WB network has announced it is launching a new series in the fall based on J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter books.

"We're very excited about this addition to our lineup," said WB co-CEO Jordan Levin. "The Harry Potter books have proved wildly successful when transferred to film, and we think a TV series is the next logical step for this franchise." The WB is owned by Warner Brothers, which has produced the first three Potter films.

The series, provisionally entitled "HP," will be an Americanized adaptation of the original books, more in keeping with the typical teen dramas which are the trademark of the WB.

"The first two movies did okay, but the third one [Prisoner of Azkaban] has been much better received. And do you know why? Because the kids are becoming teens," said Levin. "We think a teen Harry Potter drama really has potential to connect with our prime demographic – especially once we tone down the British cultural references."

The network's controversial decision to Americanize the series and re-imagine Hogwarts School of Wizardry as a high school in Malibu has incited an uproar from Harry Potter fan communities. The WB has expressed confidence that viewers will change their minds after the pilot airs in September, but critics are not so sure.

"The prime-time soaps aired by the WB are beyond awful," said television critic Gregory Vinson. "They're filled with ludicrously attractive twentysomethings pretending to be teenagers and sleeping around at the drop of a hat. The very concept of "Hogwarts 90210" makes me want to retch."

The decision to cast the muscular, six foot three Smallville heartthrob Tom Welling as Harry Potter has already sparked a storm of discussion on fansites worldwide.

"We think that Tom has already shown the brooding intensity you need to play Harry," countered Levin. "I mean, he's already got the dark hair. A pair of glasses and a little scar, and it'll be like Harry walked out of the book."

Fellow WB star Alyssa Milano, who has played a witch for years on the cult favorite Charmed has been cast as Hermione. The part of Harry's pal Ron Weasley has not been cast yet, but the network has confirmed rumors that the role is being "tweaked" to better resonate with American audiences.

"J.K. Rowling's books are extremely British," said Levin. "America's a much more diverse place than Britain, and we really needed to introduce a more urban element to the very provincial original. So it seemed logical to cast an African-American in the role of Ron."

Rowling herself has not officially commented on the new series, and there has been no mention of the series on her website. However, in an online chat over the weekend, she did offer the following enigmatic advice in closing:

"Make bloody well sure," she noted, "you always, always, always read the fine print when you sign something."

Funnies

User Friendly the Comic Strip - The Daily Static

That one is for the rest of the people that are angry about the change of Tech TV.

On that note, it looks like Leo Laporte is going to be back on Tech TV soon, only in Canada. TechTV Canade has picked up the "Call for Help" concept for a show that will start sometime this summer. Keep it here to find out when. If people are wondering about PC's and want to learn more (Gully, I'm looking at you :) ) This would be the show.

For Bloggers Everywhere

User Friendly is my first stop every morning. Some times the Linux jokes can go over my head, but It's always good for a laugh, espically when Dustball starts singing to popular songs like here :)

And Again Here we are

--OK, So I screwed up. Joe Schmo 2 starts tonight. Seems like spike TV pushed it back a week, as they were runningads for last week, but it was changed...or I just screwed up, one or the other

-Had a good time over the weekend, as I went to a wedding for Paul and Lisa. It was a fun and best wishes go to the both of them.

-I haven't watched Bad Blood or RAW yet, as I am DL them both. I am in the process of watching the WWF PPV from December 1996, It's Time.

-Seems like "The Man, The Myth, The Legend Himself" Darren Macdonald , fresh off the radio, has moved to another media as he has a new article in the Moncton Times & Transcript every saturday. Good on him.

-After not downloading any music for a while, I'm back on it, with the New singles from
D12- How Come
The Blackeyed Peas- Let's get it Started
and MA$E- Welcome back

All are worth a download.

Schmo Blog

Schmo Blog

One of the best Reality shows on television is back starting tonight. Joe Schmo 2. It's a reality show parody where everyone knows is a fake, except the schmo's.

In this case there is two of them and it's a parody of the dating shows that seem to be everywhere.

And keep an eye out for Johnthan Torrens of "Street Cents" , "Jonovision" and "Trailer Park Boys" as one of the housegests.

It starts tonight on Spike TV!

.vob sites suck

piece of advice, check what kind of file you're downloading before you start.

I downloaded Harry Potter and they came in on .vob files, which apparently are DVD files...only problem is I don't have a DVD burner and everything I tried didn't work. I could get the video but no audio..so off I go to Download again...this time .rar files, which I know what to do with

who would have thought Dl movies would be so hard :)

Stuff, Things and assorted whatnot

- Well, It looks like one of Willie's dreams has come true. No, he hasn't been in a room when Kim Possible has a wardrobe malfunctionCreed has called it Quits. While I did enjoy some of the bands music, I can't say that I'm sorry to see them go. Now the countdown starts until the reunion tour.

- I'm in the process of (ahem) acquiring the New Harry Potter movie, but I may still go see it in the theatre anyway. the copy I acquire is for my own use..yeah that's it.

- In my stereo right now, Avril's new Album "Under My Skin", Carolyn Dawn Johnson's "Dress Rehearsal" and Great Big Sea: Something Beautiful.

Avril's album is what you would expect, except she shows that she's not the same girl that recorded "Let's Go" with a voice that has matured. Songs that I always play more then one is "My Happy ending" (the second single) and "Nobody's Home". I give it a 3/5 for a great POP album. Death metal heads need not apply

One of the VERY few county artists that I have become a fan of over the past few years is Carolyn Dawn Johnson. "Room with a view" which included "Georgia" and "One day closer to you' made for an album that, while it didn't have a permanent spot in my stereo, was a frequent visitor. "Dress rehearsal" on the other hand could take up some space for a long time. Songs like "Simple Life", the very simple "Die of a Broken Heart" and the album closing and very touching "I'll let you go" make for an album that a lot of people will enjoy for a long time 3 1/2 out of 5.

As for GBS, "Something Beautiful" is not quite a step backwards, but a running in place album. The first single "When I am king" goes back to the "Goin Up" days and anyone who doesn't like "Helmethead" is not a GBS fan. "Sally Ann" and "Let it Go" make for an album that fans will enjoy, but I'm not sure any people just coming to the kitchen party will get it. 3/5

-It's been over a week since the change over of TechTV to G4TechTV and may I say F*(# COMCAST!! They took one of the channels that I had the dish for and watched a lot and turned it into something that I don't like even having on my list. It's now all video game shows; and while I enjoy the occasional "X-play" or "judgment Day", it's too much.

-A song that I've enjoyed lately is Twista's "Overnight Celebrity", not for the usual reasons but it's the first time I can remember hearing a live "hip Hop Violin" fromMiri Ben-Ari. I would love to hear her go Fiddle for Fiddle with Natalie Macmaster

Woo to direct Clancy's 'Rainbow'

This is great, as Rainbow Six is one of my favorite Clancy books. Now if we can just get "Debt of Honor" and "Executive Orders" done, all would be right in the world

More Random Stuff

Not excatly Public enemy any more, but it's been good going lately.

-Nice to see the Willie Top 40 make a return at Willie's Blog. I noticed Jay-Z's 99 problems is on it. There is some stuff I don't know, but check it out. The link is on the list.

-Over at Jessica's Blog, I noticed that she is not a big fan of Vin Diesel. While I'm not his biggest fan, and I don't know his preference of Ladies, He has had one movie that I have enjoyed, A Man Apart. I will admit that The Chronicles Of Riddick looks like absolute dogshit.

-I just finished watching "Cheating Death, Stealing Life: The Eddie Guerrero Story". It's a fery powerful story, that shows that Eddie has lived through it all, having lost his Family, Money and Career in a haze of Drugs and Alcohol. For a guy that always seemed to be able to turn it on in when the Red light comes on, it hard to believe it was a guy that was going through his personal hell. I hope that he is enjoying his success, he deserves it. If you can find it at from your local download dealer, it's worth a watch (or wait till it's released on DVD, The extra matches should be Great)

-New timekiller: Zuma

-While I'm happy for the Calgary Flames and hope to see them win the cup, I think it's a little early to call them "Canada's team"

-I hope that this Aliant strike will end soon, but it's not looking good. The worst part is when they finally get back, it's still going to be a month before things get back to normal. Maybe stories like this will get Aliant back to the table.

-One Hit wonder:Big and Rich- Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy

Owen

Owen

It's hard to believe it, but it has been 5 years since we lost Owen Hart.

I remember watching the scramblevision of the "Over the edge" but not really intently, as I was flipping back and forth between that and "The Jesse Ventura story" on NBC. I knew something had "happened" but didn't know the real story until the Newsbreak that the NBC station broke in with.

I really don't know what to say. I just thought I'd mention it

Public Enemy #1 and other things

Well, It was an interesting day at work. One of my calls this morning was from a guy that asked me to speak up and when I did, apparently thought that I was being rude to him. There's a couple things that was brought up that I can't talk about here because they are work related, but the bottom line is that I ended up with a long weekend because I wouldn't call him back and apologize for apparently offending him.

I was told that I did nothing wrong as far as the supervisors could tell, but if I didn't call him back, I would be suspended till Tuesday. I once again stated that I did nothing wrong and took the weekend.

I'm not angry, relieved is more of it, just for the fact that I got a few days off and while the cash is good, it's not worth it to say I did something wrong when I did not. I'm wrong enough that I don't have to take the heat for things I'm not wrong about.

I'm mostly disappointed that after two years, that I wouldn't have the support of the people there to back me up. I guess that's what happens when you piss off "The Clique". I made the mistake of actually standing up for myself and we can't have that, so let's knock him down a few pegs. If anyone from there is reading this,
remember, Karma's a bitch, and I'll sleep well tonight. I'll even get a chance to sleep in on Saturday.

--Just finished the second season of the West Wing last night and If there is a better drama on television, I don't know what it is. The worse part is it's going to be at least 8 months before Season 3 comes out. I've said it before but I think that the best hour on television was/is the season end episode Two
Cathedrals
. When Martin Sheen (playing President Bartlett) starts "ranting" at God in Latin, it can send a chill down your spine.

--Speaking about chills, This past Monday night on RAW, when The Rock's music hit, it was obvious that it was going to be a moment. Him and Eugene made for a "Must-see TV" moment, even if you are not a wrestling fan. The WWE needs to keep Rock under contract no matter what the cost. In 15 minutes, He made Nick "Eugene" Dinsmore a star.

--I've got judgment Day downloaded but I haven't watched a lot of it yet. Looks like I got some time this weekend, so I'll take care of it. I'm not looking forward to it, but I'll at least watch John Cena, Mordacai and the main event.

--I upgraded my internet yesterday as well to a 5mbit connection. It pretty much doubled my speed. Before and After. It seems to working great, let's hope it stays that way.

A maybe not so popular view

So 2499 of my closest friends and I spent the evening at the exhibition building last night. I don't think the building knew what to do, as 2500 people haven't seen the ex buildings in years, even during the ex.

All (or at least most) jokes aside, I went to a meeting to show my disapproval with the current rumors of bed cuts and loss of regional status for our 8-year old hospital >check it out here. I must say that I was impressed with the turnout, as usually the fact that people from Newcastle and Chatham would agree on anything more serious then if the sun will rise in the morning. The only thing people on the river will agree on more then their dislike for the other side is the fact that they are tired of getting screwed by the people in Fredericton.

It came to me as I was eating supper and reading the paper. We've lost St Thomas University, CFB Chatham, 2 Nursing programs and the very idenity of our own areas in amalgamation. It seems that when anything needs to be cut by the governments, it always Miramichi that gets looked at first. Then when it's time for the jobs to come back, they go to Moncton, Saint John or Fredericton because Miramichiers are nothing but fat, EI-cheating people who don't want to work anyway.

That seems to be the attitude of some of the elected officials from other parts of the province. Hell, one even spoke of it in the Legislature. It's ok to screw around Miramichi, they'll just sit there and take it anyway. I think that last night's rally showed that we will not be screwed around with anymore.

I think that the attitude comes from our old friend, Language. Miramichi is one of the few places in the province that English and French live together in something that could almost be considered harmony. To boil it down, Miramichi is too English for Moncton and too French for Fredericton.

At last official count 8 buses will be heading to the capital tomorrow morning, along with hundreds of people in their own cars (just for a second forgetting about the $1 a liter gas prices) to voice their displeasure with the trial balloon that the Lord
government sent up to see the public response. I think that they have seen the response...and I'm not sure that they like it.

You have a response...Leave a comment or use the tag-board

Weekend update

It's been a beautiful week, sunshine wise. It's too bad that the wind is too cold. The impossible even happened at work a couple of days ago, I got cold. It was amazing to the people around me. If the wind would just go down, it would be great.

-So I did something else I said I wouldn't do, I got myself a webcam. I don't know what I'm going to do with it, bit I got it and it's all set up on the pc.

-Went to M&M meat shop in Douglastown on Thursday night to look around. OH MY GOD!! This is the store of my future cardiologist's dreams. All for a decent price. I highly recommend their bacon wrapped Filet Mignon, leave it on the BBQ for about 20 minutes over warm coals ( for medium well, how I like my steak) and it will change your life. Take that, Mad Cow Disease.

-Speaking of BBQ, Word has come down that the world famous Willie Pub Crawl, has been put down for a year as there is a BBQ going to go down in the 'chi. I look forward to having, maybe 1 or 2, maybe a few more beers in celebration of the day that it was brought to the earth, and things have never been the same again. I'm sure that more details will be made available on Willie's Blog, so be sure to take a look if you are so inclined

-As most of you know, I am a big fan of the TechTV network, trying not to miss an episode of the flagship shows "The Screen Savers" and "Call for Help". So it was with great sadness that I came across this story.
Comcast is going to be combining TechTV with it's G4 Gaming network, but it seems that they are not interested with doing it with the TechTV staff. Some of the younger hosts may make their way to the new network, but it looks like my favorites, Leo Laporte and Patrick Norton won't be making the move. It's too bad, as why I enjoy Kevin, Sarah, Jessica and most of the other crew over there, they just don't seem to have the combination of tech knowledge and TV smarts that Leo and Pat have. Hopefully, G4 will prove me wrong and bring these guys back but I'm not holding my breath
