And another thing

SO it's been an interesting few days at work as we are the only department in Aliant that is working at anything close to 100% as the rest of the company has decided that it would be a good time to go on strike. In their place we get these idiots that may or may not be managers talking about "All we can do is take the information and call them back" BULLSHIT, what you do is screw things up long enough that you piss people off then transfer them to me so that they scream at my 10.40/hour making ass while the guy that should be taking this crap is sitting on the picket line becouse he dosn't think that $20/h is enough. Do my job which is harder, for half the money, see how you like it.

Noticing today that if you are on Aliant high speed and using anything other then Outlook Express/Internet Explorer 6, then you are shit out of luck, which also means that they have dropped support for win 95. Hopefully, we'll do that on the dial up side soon.

--Did something I didn't think I'd ever do again yesterday. I actually paid for software, as I purchased the pro version of Trillian. It's got some nice plugin's and is really worth every penny.

--I'm falling out with some people again. Although we say it won't, it happens more and more often these days

G-mail and Other Stuff

Welcome to Gmail

SO as I decide to log in to make some changes to the look of this thing..I notice that I have a different option, an option to sign up as a beta tester for Google's new E-mail program, G-mail. 1GB of storage!! No need to delete anything, I'm going to try it for a while, see what it's like. It's not out to the general public yet, but you can get more info on it at the link.

-The People have spoken as the gang down at Tech TV has come to it's senses and come to a contract with Leo Laporte for Call for Help. It goes to show that a group of fans can make a differnece if they talk long enough. NOw as long as we keep Tech TV in the merger with G4.

-GO HABS GO!!! I was flipping between the game and RAW last night because I got nervous everytime the Bruins came down the ice, but it's nice to see the Canadians in the 2nd Round. Now if we can just get rid of the Leafs, the playoffs will be a success.

-I downloaded a movie that came down as a bunch of .rar files. When I went to extract them, it was a .bin and a .cue file. Now, Nero won't find the .bin files. Can you help? leave a message on the tag board.

-Fav song right now: Seether Feat/ Amy Lee- Broken (from The Punisher Soundtrack)

View On Backlash

I have just finished watching something that has put my faith back in the WWE.

I just finished watching the 8-man tag main event from RAW. As a wrestling fan since Wrestlemania 3, that match is one of the few that has brought me out of my seat. I will say that i spent the last 2-4 minutes standing in my living room

It was a match that I want to show people when they ask me why I am a wrestling fan. That match had the past (Flair, Foley, Michaels), the present (Benoit, Triple H) and The future (Benjamin, Orton and yes, Batista, who can be great as a silent monster). It's the closet to 5*'s that I can say that I have had the pleasure of watching.

When it comes to Backlash, I can not wait for this show. Benjamin Vs Flair is the classic passing of the torch match. Flair seems to have gotten his 16 wind, just as everyone was counting him out again. As for Shelton, I see this guy and see dollar bills. I guarantee ,He will be a world champion in the next 2 years.

With Foley vs Orton, Randy has the chance to make his hardcore bones, to pay a whole bunch of dues in one night. To survive a hardcore match with Cactus Jack is something that can make you a superstar overnight. Randy Orton is one of those guys that piss a lot of people off, as he's got a lot too soon. This match can prove why.

As for The Final encounter, We have Triple H, who politics aside, when he is motivated can be one of the best guys to ever step in that ring. Shawn Michaels is out to prove that he still deserves part of the spotlight. and throw in Chris Benoit, trying to prove his championship is his for the long haul. A pressured Benoit + a motivated Hunter + a rejuvinated HBK = a match of the year candidate.

These are reasons why I am a wrestling fan.

Tech Tv loses a great Host

The Laporte Report: End of Line

I started watching Tech Tv when I got my dish about 3 years ago and one of the first people that I saw was Leo Laporte on The Screen Savers. I was disappointed when he left that show but knew that I could still see him on Call for Help.

Imagine my surprise this evening when I check out the website and realize that he has left the channel totally. Back when I was even less computer savvy, Leo made me want to learn more, as he didn't talk over my head, in as much real english as was possible.

I'm sorry to see him go, while I understand why he did. I can only hope that the new owners of Tech TV, Comcast, will look to this knowledgeable man as they begin merging G4, a video game channel not available in Canada, with Tech TV.

A response to PV

Willie's Lo-Fi Emporium

So, I guess we can go back to one of my favorite pass times. Talking Music with Willie. Be sure to read the latest PV at his blog to get the gist of what I'm talking about..Don't worry, I'll wait.

Everyone back...Great.

I don't think music is turning in to the Jr High dance. I think that pop music was always that way. There has always been singers that are too young to get into the bars that their music is played at. Elvis Presley got his first gold record at 21 and what age was Michael Jackson when he started with the Jackson 5? Bobby Brown was a star with both "New Edition" and a solo artist before his 20th birthday.

When it comes to all the Disney stars that get recording contracts, I see that as just good business for the company. Hillary Duff and Lindsey Lohen have both released their singles for "Hollywood Records" which is owned by Disney, who also owns ABCFamily, The Disney Channel, ABC, Touchstone Pictures, Live with Regis and Kelly and maybe you and I. They put out these albums because the kids that watch "Lizzie Mcguire" (Well, their mostly kids) and go to the move "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" (No, I didn't know it off the top of my head, I looked it up) will go buy these albums, along with the posters, lunchboxes, special edition Ford Explorers and "my first contraceptive" kits just because it has the face of Hillary on it. Hell, She's even selling her "Stuff" at Zellars.

The whole Muchmusic thing is kind of weird to me too. Willie, I don't know how to tell you this, but when it comes to the programmers of Muchmusic, we're old. At the very most, they are looking for people under the age of 25 and we're not under the age of 25. They are looking for the teenagers who have the OBSCENE amounts of money to spend on every little nicknack that they can find. So it makes sense to play what those people want, not necessarily what we'd like to hear.

When it comes to Talent, I think we can all agree it's subjective. I enjoy Avril's last album, although I'm not all that excited about the new album. Hillary was good for a couple of singles, but the album was terrible. Same with Fefe, who latest single "Everything" is the best song on the album, which earns the "Dok Dogshit" award. I don't think I've heard Lohan's yet, so I'll wait to pass judgment.

I think Christina is still popular because she still has the chops to back up the hype. The album "Stripped" had a couple of songs that I think showed that, Beautiful and The Voice Within. Not to mention, Michelle Branch, who has had 2 great albums "The Spirit Room" and "Hotel Paper" as well as Vanessa Carleton, who is working on a new album.

All is not lost, Mr. Williston. The pop music industry will go on for many years to come. I heard George Strombopoulous (I think I'm close) say that The Backstreet Boys are back in studio working on their next album.

Oh yeah, I can't believe you missed the Disney Teen star that doesn't have a record deal. Christy Carlson Romano, The voice of Kim Possible

Update

Hello, again. It's been a vacation week, alright. I have done, well, not nothing, but as close to it as you can.

Friday night, went up on the fan bus to Campbellton for the Timberwolves game, that that lost. It was a great hockey game, as the T-wolves were in it right up to the last second, losing 2-1. It was a great trip and coaches Jamie Henderson and Billy Riley poped on to the bus after the game to thank us for coming up.

The team is going to be losing a bunch of twenty year olds, but Riley seems to have contacts all over the country, so it will be interesting to see who he picks up for next season.

sunday night, I decided after supper that I wanted to go to the movies. As it was a last minute thing, I just went myself to see Hellboy. I thought it was a great movie, if you go in expecting a superhero movie. It's worth a look. I guess the DVD release is supposed to be another cut of it, so we'll see if that gets a little darker.

I've found the wonders of e-bay. It's been a while since I used it and then it was just for a PS2 game. Now I've picked up a couple of DVD's that I was missing in my WWF/E collection and a really nice messanger bag. I like having a bag to carry stuff to work in but the whole backpack looks too "schoolish". It's nice and you can find ANYTHING.

That's it for now. IF you haven't already sign the guestbook and let me know if there is anything you want me to talk about.
